No two gardens are the same. No two days are the same in one garden. - Hugh Johnson

A beautiful, functional garden enhances life in the same “hard to define” way that wonderful music, fine wine or great art will do. A garden is a combination of art and nature. I believe that our personal exposure to nature may serve to remind us of mans place in the universe in a "Teilhard de Chardin" sort of way. In the hectic modern world one's garden may be a sanctuary, a place to play or entertain. Whatever look you decide on and uses you want to put your garden to, it is important to recognize and respect the "spirit of place” so that your garden looks and feels like it is meant to be there. Gardens should not feel jarring or contrived but bring a sense of harmony and joy into our homes and lives. |
